Berries Forever

We may just have berries forever, well at least for the next entire year, I hope.  We visited a U-Pick Berry Patch and I think we came home with around 26 pounds of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries!  Did you know blackberries are also called Kotatas?  Me either.

It was a perfect day for berry picking, and the patch was lovely, on a hilly farm outside of town.  We spent the morning eating and picking.  The kids had so much fun, and we all got a good healthy dose of sunshine, fresh air, and antioxidants.

At home, we washed and de-stemmed and sorted the berries, and then froze them in batches on cookie sheets to keep them from freezing together.

Now we have berries for smoothies, cereal, and desert whenever we want them and we won't be at the mercy of seasonal and outrageous grocery store prices.  This is going to have to become an annual tradition!

Next, I want to pick peaches...
