Socially Responsible Textbooks

Whenever I hear about a company that donates part of their proceeds to a really good cause, my heart feels happy.  In this world where corporate power, money, and greed seem to be overwhelmingly present, the corporate generosity of Campus Book Rentals stands out with brilliance.

Campus Book Rentals is a company with a big heart.  When they came to me to request a sponsored post about what they do to make this world a better place, I didn't even hesitate.

The company has connected with Operation Smilean international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives.  They offer surgery to children with cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Campus Book Rental's commitment this year is to donate over 1000 surgeries to cleft lip children, offering them a chance at a better quality of life.  At $240 per surgery, that is a very healthy donation!

Did You Know?

>>>Cleft lips and cleft palates occur in approximately 1 per 500-700 births, the ratio varying considerably across geographic areas or ethnic groupings. (Source: World Health Organization International Collaborative Research on Craniofacial Anomalies)

>>>Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.

>>>Ear disease and dental problems occur frequently, as do problems with proper speech development. Children who suffer from a cleft lip and/or cleft palate may have difficulty eating.
