Really Really Good Cranberry Margaritas

I know I am jumping the gun a little bit with this recipe.  Cranberries aren't really in season until November, and in fact I had to try two different stores to get just the frozen berries!  But, so worth it and absolutely a great drink for later in the holiday season.

Cranberry Margaritas
Juice about 18 oranges to make about 2 cups of juice.  It's sticky and messy but fresh squeezed is so much better!

Combine a cup of sugar and orange juice in a sauce pan and heat to mix.  Then add 20oz cranberries.  Bring to a boil and then simmer on a lower temp until the cranberries burst.  Meanwhile enjoy how delicious your house is smelling!

Let the mixture cool and then puree the heck out of it.  Now you have a fresh puree base of cranberry and orange for the margarita.

The next step is making the individual drinks which, I think can be fun to experiment with, for example, more sugar, different alcohol amount, etc.  The concoction I liked was 2 oz puree, 1.5 oz Lumazul Tequila, and .5 oz Grand Marnier.

We had these margaritas last week when we had friends over for mexican night.  I also made this delicious tortilla soup but must have had too many drinks to remember to take worthwhile pictures of the process (you'll just have to believe me that the soup was yummmm!).

After dinner, we played this crazy German card game called Bohnanza, I had never heard of it...but it was fun!

Cheers!
