Great Read

MyBoy got me hooked on a teen series called The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins.  Wow, I could not put it down at all, not any of the three books in the series.  In fact, couldn't even wait for the paperback to come out and thus have the hardback copies.  I think I read each one in two days because the suspense was killing me.  Kudos to MyBoy for being such an advanced reader at age ten and having great taste in fiction!
If adventure, humanity, rooting for the underdog, and a truly feminist free thinking plot interests you, pick these books up.  What a fun read.  Of course the movie is in the making....

That is one of the books on my daughter's 7th grade reading list! Wow, a good reader indeed. This series is responsible for capturing many children who just couldn't get into reading. Love your post.

Wow, a teacher could really go to town writing a curriculum for these books, with all of the politics and oppression involved. She must have a good (and hip) teacher!

I got hooked on "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, which I think is meant for 6th graders. But I'm just a sucker for a good dystopia novel.

Iris~I will check that out! Thanks for the suggestion, it's always nice to find a good series.
